The Kuban Chorus has traversed a long path to reach the cherished margin beyond which the distinction is obliterated between stage and life, between genuine folk art and its reproduction in the flood lit concert hall.
The Kuban Chorus has for more than a decade now been occupying a leading place among the Russian national choruses. "Parisians are not easily taken by surprise. Russian art is well known to them. The Pyatnitsky Chorus, the Northern Chorus and the "Beryozka" Group are frequent guests here.
But the viewers were overwhelmed by the Russian spirit stirred up by the concerts of the Kuban Cossack Chorus. This group differs from other Russian choruses by their passionate temperament bordering on audacity. It was a brilliant show . The Cossacks have again conquered Paris". Nice Matin, France
"...songs were followed by spectacular dances. The dancers' art is beyond comparison. They worked wonders. The singers' strong voices whi fascinate the most profound connoisseurs... " WAZ,Germany:
The authority of the Kuban Cossack Chorus is very high in the Russia, too. Discs with recordings of the Chorus are written about it and films are made.
"The Chorus's concerts were perceived for their artistic integrity, as a singular performance... It was a festival of folk art, of its incalculable wealth, and fairylike colour fulness ".
Pravda "The viewers were captivated and thrilled by the rapturous songs (many of which were performed unarranged, the way they are sung by the people), dances, and people's scenes performed to the accompaniment of original and instrumental groups". Sovietskaya ' Rossiya "The harmonious singing of the chorus, the brilliant dances could not but evoke admiration. Both the songs and dances of our Kuban guests are liberally sprinkled with genuine folk humour ".
Stating that the chorus performances bring precious minutes of contact with the ancient history of Kuban (Le Figaro, Paris),"with the miracle of Russian art", the press places it on a par with the famous Symphony Orchestra of the Leningrad Philharmonic conducted by Ye. Mravinsky, and the Russian "Bolshoi" Theatre (Asahi, Tokio).
